"The Deed" by Koi Swartz

Updated: May 19

It was a simple deed. Not much more

The deed was small, not much

A simple instruction, a small task

Why did he feel guilty

Guilt wasn’t an option, it was a make believe feeling

He can’t back down. He’s scared

He felt like burning in his chest

He wanted to impress his fellow friend

He cannot fail.

It was his only friend

It was one deed

Koi Swartz, senior (class of 2022), is planning on attending UMES and majoring in art.
