"Untitled' by Kara Jordan
Updated: May 23, 2022
On a dark and cloudless night,
The maiden holds her breath,
She’s in need of a knight
To prevent her soon coming death
Fireflies ride on the air
As the girl dances and swings
With a partner she despairs
His hands holding hers in strings
Onward, the knight rides
Hooves leavings dust clouds in his wake
Striding forward, red eyed
The knight is as irate as a drake
Mournful, she looks on
The partner begs for attention
His desire for her is lifelong
She’d remain forever in his retention
Act two begins of this play,
Supposed star-crossed lovers glare
The partner is of the fey,
The other was born from the Flare.
They dance in spite
As the partner takes her in hand
Though he notices that something isn’t quite right
In his wicked, twisted, wonderland
Tipped by the unhinged seer,
Fire enveloped the knight’s vision
Determined to defeat the puppeteer
Who stole his sister; Feinting Elysium.
Suddenly, the horse leaps ahead
Right into the court of the partner
Eyes on eyes, they stare, both stopped dead.
Perhaps the maiden wouldn’t become a martyr.
